Hurling and Camogie Club

Handball, Hurling, Camogie and Croker

Our week-end started with some HEALTHY HANDBALL on Friday night in the TK2 Community Centre. Out Under 10-11 boys and girls got together for a joint session at 6.30 pm and this was followed by an adult session facilitated by the Brian Boru club. An enjoyable night was had by all and some of our coaches got a good bit of exercise, as they bounced around the one-wall court set up by the TK2 Community Centre staff. This is a 3 week project and will run for another 2 weeks if any adults want to give it a go.

It was the turn of the 12+ teams, including adults to open their campaigns. Both out Under 13 girls and boys were in action on Saturday. Our Under 13 girls had a good start to their season with a win over St Peregrines in their league game. You can read the match report here. Both our Under 13 hurling squads were well decked out for their first grading games yesterday thanks to JBD Construction and IQ Branding Solutions. We had a good win against Scoil Ui Chonaill at home, while our squad travelling to Clondalkin had a tougher encounter against Round Towers. Our Under 14 hurlers had a good win over St Vincent’s, while our Under 16s lost narrowly to Whitehall Colmcilles.

Our Go Games hurling teams were training this week and after a nippy morning of hurling training our Under 10 boys and girls and parents popped over to Croke Park to watch the Dublin hurlers and footballers in action which was their first field trip as a group. The hurling game didn’t go our way, but the kids enjoyed the craic!

It wasn’t to be for our 3 adult hurling teams to day who were all playing away from home in their opening games on Sunday, but it was great to see so many younger players step up and get the experience they needed. Our Under 14 camogie squad captained by opened their league Division 2 campaign with a win over  Round Towers at home in Dolphin Park. You can read the match report here.

An upcoming date for your diary is the Céilí Chaoimhín on Friday 10th March in Loreto College at 7.30 pm! No dancing experience necessary. Donations will go towards UNICEFs Earthquake appeal.

Training continues for all teams at their usual slot and as mentioned above this coming Friday we will also host a HEALTHY HANDBALL session for 10-11 year olds from 6.30 pm in the TK2 Community Centre in Charlemont Street. Adults can give it a go at 7.30 pm thanks to the Brian Boru club. If you would like more information email pro.kevins.dublin@gaa.ie.
