Many thanks to Loreto College Crumlin for partnering with us on the Multi Purpose Ball Wall initiative which is ideal for our growing number of players.
The wall is located where we run our weekly Nursery and the fantastic artwork really brightens the area up. Having a wall that we can use will allow us work on specific hurling skills, but will also bring benefits from an agility, balance and coordination perspective as our younger members in the nursery can use it for a variety of purposes. The wall is multi-purpose and includes targets for Rounders players to practice bowling and a space for young Handball players to be introduced to the One Wall code and learn the basics. Kevin’s recognise the need for kids to play multiple sports, regardless of the code and the artwork even includes a “big ball”.
The Juvenile section led by Chairperson Louise Tuite organised a Hurlathon today to mark the occasion and raise some much needed funds for the day to day running of the club. Each of the teams from Under 8 upwards also received a coaching session from GPO Paul McManus who showed the boys and girls the types of hurling skills they can practice.
In other news there was great excitement at our ABC Nursery as a number of boys and girls graduated and will soon make their way to the next phase of their sporting careers and tog out with the Kevin’s Under 8s! Our Under 16 hurlers gained promotion in league and championship as they took full points against St. Maurs today in their last league fixture. They now await the results of other games which will determine if they are promoted as league champions or runner-up.
