Hurling and Camogie Club

Let The Games Begin!

It was a hectic week-end for the club as underage hurling returned with games for all our Go Games teams as well as Under 15 Feile and Minor League. Our Mixed Adult Rounders squad also played their first games of 2023 in the Dublin Social Rounders Winter League. While the Camogie league games haven’t commenced yet, some of our girls were in action with Dublin Development Squads and in the Leinster League and our Kevin’s Heroes and Donore Ave Credit Union ABC Nursery continued as usual in Loreto College.

Our Go Games hurling teams had a super start to their 2023 season with games in Loreto College, Dolphin Park and away in Portmarnock. Our Under 8s and 9s hosted Kilmacud Crokes and Lucan Sarsfields in Loreto College and our Under 10s welcomed Clontarf to Dolphin Park. Our Under 11s travelled to play Naomh Mearnog and our Under 12s hosted Westmanstown Gaels in their first grading game. It was a great morning of hurling with good performances all round, but a special mention goes to young Emily Farrell who provided a impressive display of hurling with 3 points from play and a pointed free in the Under 10 hurling game. Our Under 12s also had a good win in their first ever grading game. Pats Hats also hosted her first pop up shop of 2023!

Our Adult Mixed Rounders team had 2 good wins in the Dublin Social Rounders Winter League after lunch, moving them up into second position in the league. First up was Na Fianna who they beat 11-9 and in the second game they beat Dublin Metropolitans in a thrilling game 17-15. Both games were played in blustery conditions, but thankfully the rain held off and everyone got a run out across the 2 games.

Our Under 14 girls were out with Dublin Camogie squad on Sunday morning in Marley Park. A great experience for all involved, while back in Dolphin Park our Under 15 hurlers hosted Kilmacud Crokes in their opening round game at home in the Féile na nGael. It was an exciting game ending in a draw. In 2 weeks they take on St Jude’s in Tymon Pk. Many thanks for the support and to Element Post Production for the sponsorship. Our intermediate Camogie squad also travelled to Nurney  Co. Kildare to play in the Leinster League. The result didn’t go our way, but we did enjoy the hospitality. Check out our Instagram page for some good action shots … of the game that is, not the post-game tea and sambos!

Unfortunately our Minor Hurling Division 2 game versus Fingallians was postponed as there was no referee available. As participation rates increase across the county it’s important that we as a club also contribute to the pool of referees. Please contact our club secretary on secretary.kevins.dublin@gaa.ie.

Training continues for all teams at their usual slot and this coming Friday we will also host a HEALTHY HANDBALL session for 10-11 year olds from 6.30 pm in the TK2 Community Centre in Charlemont Street. Adults can give it a go at 7.30 pm thanks to the Brian Boru club. If you would like more information email pro.kevins.dublin@gaa.ie. As games resume we would like to remind all members that memberships renewals are due for 2023. There are many options which you can check out here.

This weeks Lotto Jackpot is €2,000 and draw will be held in Lowes. You can play online up to 7pm on Monday night using the secure Clubforce link by clicking here. All funds raised go towards the running of the many club activities. Many thanks for your continued support.
