Under 12 Hurlers Win League

Well done to our Under 12 hurlers who secured the Division 6 League title on the last day with a hard earned draw against a very good O’Dwyers side. O’Dwyers led at half time and it wasn’t looking good for Kevin’s, but a goal from a long rang shot from Fred Macklin landed in the top corner (not for the first time this year) and gave our lads a glimmer of hope. After some back and forth Anthony Kerfoot stepped in behind the full back and latched onto a bouncing ball giving the Balbriggan keeper no chance. O’Dwyers responded and went ahead again, but with moments to go Tristan Tennyson stepped up from half back and launched a ball over the bar to draw the game 2-6 to 1-9.

Well done also to a certain proud mother who was spotted  climbing a lamp post on the South Circular Road at 6am to ensure the travelling support had a flag on the sideline!

Kevin’s will share the title with Ballinteer Saint Johns as we both ended on equal points and there are no play offs at Under 12 level. While training will continue, this ends a very successful season for the boys who also won the Kilmacud Crokes Festival of Hurling Plate tournament in UCD earlier this year.
