Under 16 League Champions

Well done to  the Under 16 girls for taking home the clubs first bit of silverware in 2024 by winning the Division 4 league tonight. The Kevins girls lead 2-3 to 0-2 at half time, but Commercials looked dangerous throughout and if not for some hard graft in the middle of field from Captain Fantastic Chloe Kearns and keeper Chloe Madden who pulled of three  important saves the scoreline would have been much closer. Kevins got the second half start they needed with a quick 1-1, but Commercials replied promptly with a goal of their own and from a possession perspective the game was level. Commercials piled on the pressure but the girls chased down every attack as if their lives depended on it and with some clever clearances from Rachel Leahy the Kevins half forward line were receiving some good ball. A positional switch in the second half made the difference as Eliza Siegal dominated the 21 yard line and bombarded the Rathcoole girls goal line with scores from all angles. Meadhbh Ramos Finnegan also got in on the scoring action with a shot that headed straight for the top corner leaving the keeper with an impossible task.  The final whistle was blown soon after Eliza Siegal plucked a ball out of the air 30 yards out and turned to seal the deal with a point leaving the final score Kevins 6-8 Commercials 2-2.  Chloe Kearns accepted the trophy on behalf of the squad and in an emotional speech thanked the girls for their dedication throughout the campaign. Many thanks to Eoghan Redmond for the photography work tonight.

Our Under 15s are out tomorrow with a home game at 2 pm. If tonight’s entertainment was anything to go by you should get yourself up to home of Dublin Hurling & Camogie to watch this talented group of girls.
