Thanks to the hard work of Emma Young we gathered for the Kevins Gala Ball on Saturday night in the Radisson Hotel in Golden Lane. This was the first time we held an occasion like this since before COVID-19 and it was the first dinner dance for many of our attendees who have joined the club in recent years. The night in question was organised to celebrate 30 years of camogie in the club and it was fitting to have recently retired principal Mrs Spring at the Ball as it was 30 years ago that we also established a partnership with St Clare’s School in HX.
The night opened with a new format where Jack Murray of Media HQ hosted a round table discussion with a mix of members including Suzanne Connellan, Claire Graham, Erica Meslin and Brian Og Flannery who represented the various sections of the club. This was a new format and we hope the attendees enjoyed the discussion and insights.
After the dinner, Chairperson Vincent Hennessy took over proceedings and the awards we given out. Club President Philomena Crampton and Vice President John Ryan presented the awards to the various winners (listed below) .the best wine was left until last and after a fabulous speech from Vincent Hennessy who spoke passionately about the great women we have involved in the running of the club he announced club person of the year to the legendary Gabrielle Breathnach. Gabrielle was so shocked she was nearly speechless, but managed to gather herself and say a few words! The night continued with some dancing and merriment and a number of parents and mentors were back in Dolphin Park on Saturday morning with our other special guest who joined us … Liam McCarthy.
