Kevins
Hurling and Camogie Club

Week-End Round Up 20 March 2022

It’s 2 years since the country was locked down and sporting activities were shut down, so with the announcement of a well deserved long-long weekend we decided to postpone Saturday mornings Kevins Heroes and Donore Credit Union ABC Nursery. Go Games matches and underage training went ahead as normal where coaches and parents were still in town. Our under 10 hurlers travelled to Bunting Road to play St James Gaels.  The under 11 girls hosted our neighbours Crumlin in Loreto College and performed well.  Both under 12 hurlers were in action on Saturday afternoon. We hosted Na Gaeil Oga in a windy Dolphin Park and also travelled to St Vincent’s and were happy to report strong performances by both squads. Our under 15 camogie squad played St Peregrines in a mighty battle but lost by a point.  We also welcomed some new referees who made their go Games debuts. If you are interested in taking up the whistle please contact referee coordinator Conor Byrne on 086-0696452.

On Sunday our Under 17 hurlers had a good win in the league and our Under 19s had a bye. Dublin Camogie were playing in Croke Park for the first time in many years and a number Kevins members popped out to support the girls in blue. They were pleasantly surprised to recognise some of our under 12 hurlers kick football at half time during the Dublin Donegal NFL game, as some of our hurlers play with St James Gaels. It was a great experience and no doubt a great  memory to have in years to come.

What’s in the pipeline for the coming week, apart from fixtures and training?

The next child safeguarding 1 workshop was announced and will be held on Friday 25th March at 8pm in Saint Catherine’s National School, Donore Avenue, Dublin 8. Prospective and new coaches requiring a refresh should contact our Child Protection Officer Karen Jordan on 086-8264603 for further information or to register. Dublin GAA recently announced Abood Al Jumali as their new Dublin GAA Diversity & Inclusion Ambassador and their aim is to run a number of roadshows throughout Dublin. We will be welcoming Abood and some inter-county players to Loreto college next Saturday at 2.30 pm and we look forward to sharing more details in the coming days. The club lotto Jackpot will be €2,100  this Monday. Funds raised goes towards the many activities we run and you can play online using the secure Clubforce link by clicking here.
